We hope this message finds you in high spirits and filled with anticipation for the upcoming hockey season. As the registration period approaches, we wanted to take a moment to address a concern that often arises: the cost of participation. At Southside Minor Hockey Association, we are committed to making hockey accessible to all, and we understand the financial considerations that can come into play.
We are pleased to announce that we have taken significant measures to ensure that our registration costs remain affordable, allowing more individuals to experience the joy of hockey. We firmly believe that financial limitations should not hinder anyone from pursuing their passion for this incredible sport. Our aim is to create an inclusive community that embraces players of all backgrounds and economic circumstances.
To achieve this goal, we continue to have various initiatives and strategies:
1. Registration Fees: We have reviewed and optimized our registration fees, carefully considering factors such as local economic conditions and operational costs. Our aim is to strike a balance that ensures affordability without compromising the quality of the hockey experience. Registration fees include ice times, insurance, and provincial costs. Player(s) team will collect and/or fundraise to cover any additional costs such as officials, referees, timekeeper, tournaments, team gear and any other team related fees.
2. Flexible Payment Options: We understand that managing finances can be challenging, especially for families with multiple commitments. To alleviate this burden, we continue to offer flexible payment plans that allow you to spread the registration cost over two instalments. We believe this flexibility will make hockey more accessible to a wider range of participants.
3. Family Discounts: We will continue to offer this to our membership who has more than one player in U9 and above.

4. Financial Assistance Programs: At Southside Minor Hockey, we are dedicated to supporting players who may require additional financial assistance. Programs such as:

It is the Parent’s/Guardian’s responsibility to send an email to southsideminorhockeyassn@gmail.com to notify that funding has been applied for and/or approved.
We want to emphasize that our commitment to affordable hockey is an ongoing endeavor. We continually assess our financial structure and explore new possibilities to reduce costs and improve accessibility. We firmly believe that hockey should be a sport for all, regardless of financial circumstances, and we are determined to make it a reality.
